Well, here is the result of the combination of my obsession with art deco and my obsessive urge to search, classify, and organize things. I learned a ton about art deco on the internet (special thanks to Wikipedia). After that I spent many of my summer days traveling around the Tri-State and Greater Cincinnati finding buildings with interesting architecture (especially art deco) and photographing them and anything else I found interesting. And now I have found deviantART, where several up-and-coming artists can display their works for all to see. Of course, I decided to find out how my beloved art deco is faring in all this. So, here it is, a collection of artworks that I have individually picked out. I chose only works by artists who seem to understand what art deco truly is and how to incorporate this gorgeous and unique art form into their own works of art.
(When I say "art deco" here, I am referring to deco as well as some of the other related terms like "streamline moderne", "art moderne", "zigzag moderne", etc. However, I've tried as hard as I can to distinguish this group from art nouveau, as the two styles are commonly confused with one another and indeed are similar in many ways, especially the early European art deco, which grew largely out of pre-WWI art nouveau influence)
